Myofacial Release

  • Namaste Yoga Royal Oak 3121 Rochester Road Royal Oak United States (map)

This fun and interactive class will focus on techniques to release your muscles, facia, connective tissues and tendons. Self-myofascial release (SMFR) is a self-massage technique, utilizing blocks, balls and other props to help you relax.  We will learn about the benefits of releasing the stress held in tight connective tissues and muscles. SMFR stimulates and relaxes constricted tissues. SMFR is a good option for the relief of sore muscles, releasing tension in your shoulders and other areas of your body, and other sources of pain and discomfort.

Tight myofascial tissue can restrict movement in your joints and muscles, causing tightness, tension, and ‘knots’ you can’t get rid of. Because these areas are tighter, they may create imbalances in the way you move, with can create additional tightness that you’re not immediately aware of.

These techniques are being incorporated into some Yin yoga classes as well as other classes. You will feel like you have had a massage and can use these techniques in classes and at home.

Kyla Remus and Jeannette Benner are both certified in Yin Yoga and are certified in Myofascial Release. Jeannette also has advanced training in Yin Yoga.
